Hardware support is not carrier support

A phone can contain eSIM hardware while a carrier, plan, region, or device variant restricts activation. Confirm the exact model identifier with the intended provider rather than relying on the retail family name.

Some U.S. phones are eSIM-only while international variants retain a physical tray, making regional sourcing important.

Dual SIM has several meanings

Dual standby generally keeps two lines registered but may use only one cellular data connection at a time. Dual active behavior, 5G availability, Wi-Fi calling, messaging, and emergency calling can vary.

Phones may store many eSIM profiles while enabling only two simultaneously. Storage count should not be presented as active-line count.

Travel workflows need preparation

Confirm whether the phone is unlocked, whether the primary carrier allows international eSIM installation, and how authentication messages behave when switching data lines. Install essential profiles before leaving reliable internet.

Understand transfer and deletion procedures because an erased eSIM may require carrier assistance to restore.
