A practical phone warranty checklist
Know who provides coverage, what is excluded, and how service works before a failure.
Seller and manufacturer coverage differ
Marketplace purchases, imports, refurbished devices, and third-party sellers may not receive the same manufacturer warranty as domestic authorized retail stock.
Confirm the warranty provider, start date, region, proof-of-purchase requirement, and whether the serial number is eligible.
Coverage has boundaries
Accidental damage, liquid damage, cosmetic wear, unauthorized repair, batteries, and accessories can follow different rules. An IP rating does not automatically create liquid-damage coverage.
Read deductibles and claim limits separately when protection plans supplement the standard warranty.
Service logistics have value
Mail-in time, advance replacement, local repair access, data handling, shipping responsibility, and refurbished replacement terms affect the real usefulness of coverage.
Document condition and identifiers before sending a device, then preserve tracking and service communications.
